  Michael Keep

(Nationality:  ? )

Trivia:

Also played Natchez (Naiche) in a "Zane Grey Theater" episode in 1960, titled,
"The Last Bugle"

Portrayed Cochise in the 1967 movie
      "40 Guns To Apache Pass"

We have only a few seconds to glimpse the commanding figure of Cochise, set resolutely and proudly on his mount, as he keeps an eye on the progress of a stage passing through Apache Pass . . . so there isn't much to go on with respect to the portrayal.  At least, in this episode, the casting department opted for an actor with presence and physical stature, whereas in neither of two other occasions where Cochise was part of the story, can the same be said.

One of the standing plot fixtures of the "High Chaparral" series was the uneasy peace that existed between John Cannon and Cochise's band, on whose land he had so valiantly and recklessly settled.  With that in mind, it makes little sense that Cochise himself was portrayed in so pitifully few episodes.  Too bad they did not mine this rich vein more often.
